Is Turbotax Better than Taxslayer, and Is Taxslayer Really a Free Tax Software?
Is Turbotax better than taxslayer, is the main focal point of this blog post, and is something that I will keep to a very brief 500 word blog post, for no other reason than the fact that I have written about this already at length in another blog post, click here to read about this more. The reason I decided to make a follow up post on this to the one that I just made a few weeks ago, is that there is another topic that I don’t think I covered enough in the prior blog post, as my opinion on the Taxslayer vs Turbotax war has actually somewhat changed since writing the prior post and helping some friends write their tax returns, especially on the state income tax side of things. Which Online Tax Filing is Best?
I personally feel that for state income taxes, Turbotax is going to be the better option, sans whatever cost is going to be tacked onto your tax bill at the end of the day. For a simple Federal tax filing however with just a W-2, Turbotax is also going to be the better option, however for more complex federal tax options, such a Schedule C or some HSA Deductions, or even a Form 1099-R or form 5498 tax filing, it is very important for you to probably use TaxSlayer over Turbotax, not only will it be easier for you to file by individual forms, but also will it be cheaper, with just a $17.00 price tag for all of this by Taxslayer, with still a $90 price tag for Turbotax for the exact same thing, Slayer is the winner here.
Is There Anything Better Than TurboTax?
Taxslayer and H and R Block definitely have their advantages over Turbotax depending on what you are trying to file. As mentioned in the former, it is better to use taxslayer if you have a slightly more complex Federal Income Tax Return, than if you are filing state taxes. For state taxes I would probably recommend using Turbotax, as their software is just a little bit cleaner, but sticking with Taxslayer for more complex federal tax returns, nuff said here.
Final Thoughts on Is Turbotax Better Than TaxSlayer, My Review
And there we go, my full Is Turbotax Better than Taxslayer review, and why I would use each one for different situations at different times. Overall, I would say that Taxslayer is actually the better bargain, and that I think really Turbotax is the better marketer, as their softwares are actually relatively comparative in terms of what tax offerings they provide.
